Comment Rules

Wish this wasn’t actually necessary, but due to me sticking my head into the whole fanart debacle, there are now some basic rules on comments:

1. I don’t give a fuck what you say as long as you’re able to articulate your reasoning. If you think an ethical issue is severe enough to warrant the use of expletives to punctuate its weight, then fuckin’ spit it out.

2. That doesn’t give any grounds for ad hominem attacks. It’s considered a fallacy for a reason – it doesn’t give any real weight to the substance of your argument, and is a mere distraction from the issue at hand. Ad hominem attacks reflect worse on their user than their target – so shut the hell up and make a point.

3. I encourage the proper use of grammar and spelling. Yes, I can be a grammar Nazi – you try editing for a college paper and see how long you can keep a straight face at bad English. But not all readers are native English speakers, and as such cannot be expected to have total mastery of the language (in fact, I am, myself, a Taiwanese immigrant). All the same, make the effort. Please.

4. Racism, sexism, homophobia, etc, et al, ad nauseum – if you’re guilty of it, don’t be surprised if I not only delete your comment, but call you out on it.

It’s tl;dr, as usual, but the rules boil down pretty simply: be a decent human being, respect each other’s mutual humanity, and try not to make me want to gouge my eyes out.

Easy, right?
